Descriptif

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of Ireland’s leading and most prestigious private hospital with a reputation for training, support and career development for their staff. A number of specialised nursing roles are currently available as this hospital continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the assessment and evaluation of patient care needs and the development, implementation of quality nursing care.
  • To provide nursing care without direct supervision and support colleagues within the Nursing Division in the delivery of quality nursing care.
  • Carry out nursing duties within hospital policy and according to the Code of Professional Conduct (NMBI).
  • Carry out instructions from the theatre manager and theatre clinical nurse managers and other senior nursing staff.
  • Adheres to the agreed policies and procedures of the hospital and promotes, by example, a high standard of nursing care in the Operating Theatre Department.
  • Foster good relationships with patients, nursing colleagues, the multi-disciplinary team, relatives and visitors to the hospital. Help achieve high morale for both staff and patients.
  • Be aware of relevant ordering and stock control supplies for the department using resources efficiently and management practices in the theatre department.
  • Ensure all documentation of patient care is of a high standard, and kept up-to-date according to the Code of Conduct, hospital policies and in accordance with professional standards.
  • Aware of responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act, report on any practices that could be detrimental to patient and/or staff safety.
  • Attend training on CPR, lifting/handling and other hospital required induction or training programme.
  • Responsible as a trained nurse for the control and administration of drugs within the regulations laid down by   the hospital Code of Professional Conduct (NMBI).
  • Work within the Professional Code of Conduct (NMBI).
  • Maintain a personal profile and develop within the scope of professional practice, a professional profile.
  • Practice agreed models of nursing and systems of care as directed by the Theatre Superintendent or Theatre Sister.
  • Keep up-to-date with nursing literature, critique and utilise appropriate nursing research findings to enhance quality patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient, Theatre Superintendent, Theatre Sister and colleagues.
  • Promote a culture where excellence in practice can be shared and supported and less than excellence in practice is challenged.
  • Confidentiality of patient’s records and personnel files must be safeguarded at all times.
  • The appointee is expected to respect the Mission Statement and uphold the tradition and ethos of the Private Hospital.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential 

  • Be registered on the general division of the register of nurses maintained by NMBI.
  • Have proven clinical and professional ability
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Competency in the English language is a requirement for the post.

Desirable

  • Have at least 1 years post registration experience in an acute setting.
  • Completed a Diploma in peri-operative nursing.
  • Evidence of post registration professional development.
  • Competency in use of Microsoft packages.
  • A proven ability to work under pressure and use initiative
  • An ability to deal with staff at all levels within the organisation.
  • The ability to manage clinical and non-clinical situations.
  • The ability to work within a team in the delivery of excellent nursing care.
  • A high capacity for responsibility and individual initiative.
  • An interest in quality initiation for the nursing service.
  • Knowledge of risk management from investigation of accidents and incidents, to reporting and documenting such incidents according to the hospital policy.
  • As a theatre nurse, it is important to identify the physiological, psychological and sociological needs of the patient in the Operating Theatre Department.
